About
Me.

My name is Dionysios Xenos
I am a Poet

I was born in Athens, at the Alexandra maternity hospital in November 1954. My father’s origin is from Zakynthos and my mother’s origin from Karditsa (Agrafa). I hold a master’s degree in health informatics with many years of experience in the field of health. The nights in the village are crystal clear and you see the stars of the sky so close to you. So every night I would go to the edge of the balcony and reach out my hand and grab a star and all night I would go to the stars of the sky, listening to people’s stories, seeing their souls, reading their dreams, listening to their complaints. At dawn I would go back and mark the stars I visited. I would go down to the matzato of our house, close the door and write in the blue notebooks what I had collected from my trip. When I finished writing, I hid them on the top shelf of the library, and the next night again on the edge of my balcony for new trips. In my school years I wrote in the school newspaper and as a student I wrote in student publications. In my adult life I wrote articles in newspapers and since 1974 I started visualizing my travels dealing with photography trying to capture the moments of time. These trips lasted half a century and gave me the opportunity to publish my first poetry collection entitled “Nafplio Street, poems for an absence” and I am preparing the next editions. If you meet me and ask me why I write, I will smile at you and say, “I don’t know any other way to live.”
